These two hour taster sessions are an opportunity for you to come and make some exciting things with clay. Get to know the material and its diversity in a friendly, fun environment on one these one off taster classes. It's great way to get to know if you'd like to take on a course, or just to do something different. It's a great escape and suits the creative and non-creative alike.

Book a mould making course
Make a simple plaster mould for slip casting and press moulding in clay.
This class is a four hour workshop that gives students the opportunity to make a simple plaster mould of an object of their choice. This mould can be of an object they want to reproduce in clay, either through the slip casting technique or through pressing plastic clay into the mould.
The mould making process is useful both for functional and sculptural ceramics. Students will be asked to consult with the studio in regards to what they would like to make a mould of - to ensure the task is doable within the time of the workshop. If the object is very simple (a drop-out mould such as a plate or small bowl), you may have the opportunity to make more than one mould.
Wear overalls or old clothes and shoes - this does get messy. If you have sensitive skin, you may need barrier cream for your skin. I will provide latex gloves and a dust masks for the session.
Bring an object no larger than 30cm in length and breadth that is non-porous and not precious. Good examples would be plastic toys, ceramic wares, fruit, vegetables, an object sculpted by you - made in wet clay. Please contact me for further advice and with you object choice.
